Seriously?

It's getting tempting to be rude to people like this. However, it's not worth it...

W.Foods Checker: "When is your baby due?"

Me: "In May, but not soon enough."

W.Foods Checker: "Oh, don't talk to me about that. That's nonsense."

Me: "I mean I just want her out safely."

W.Foods Checker: "Well, I have four boys. I breastfed one of them while pregnant with twins. Then, when the twins came, I breastfed all three of them at once. And, they were 6 pounds each. What you've got going on there (pointing to my belly) is nothing. You don't know how hard it is until you carry twins to full term."

Me: "Yes, that is certainly commendable."

People drive me crazy!!!! I don't know why the majority of people feel the need to talk to other people...especially pregnant people...I wish people would think before they speak, but we all know that is not going to happen...I am sorry you had to deal with this and proud of how you handled it. Praying for a safe delivery and baby!!!!!!

This made my blood pressure rise just reading it. And the comment about twins. Ouch.

Sorry.

Oh come on--you should have unloaded your story on this woman. :) See how self-righteous she would have been then!

I think I might actually have put her in her place, if for no other reason that to teach her a lesson that she can learn to keep her mouth shut. Because some people DO. KNOW. And they had to learn the sad way.

You are a much nicer woman than I am. :)

Love you pal!

Why is it that poor, uneducated people are so fertile?

As a "graduate" of the pregnancy and infant loss support group at your local hospital, I can empathize with you on this one. Lots of times you wish you could just let people have it, but you handled this with such grace, a gift that not everyone is blessed with but could certainly learn from. Best wishes to you!

UGH!!

You handled it well.

What is commendable was your response!

I would have told her my whole story. Saying "no YOU have NO IDEA how HARD it is being pregnant AGAIN after LOSING twins you JERK!" ok, I probably wouldn't have, but in my head I would have...

sorry you had sit and listen to that. it's just how it goes. people can be incredibly stupid. sigh.

As a person who regularly puts her foot in her mouth..."Wow it seems like you've been pregnant forever...Let's see, last summer, fall, winter, spring. Hmmm?" Lady: "Uh yeah, I had her 7 months ago." Me:"Oh...Congratulations..." it was very kind of you to let her off the hook. People do need to mind their own business, but her problem was ignorance not malice. Women love to talk about their (successful)pregnancies..with anyone.
